Vuzix announced that sales of their revolutionary video eyewear continues to grow with the news that in the first 3 months alone of 2010 they sold over $1,221,392 worth of video glasses.

our Tac-Eye video eyewear product sales increased 393% to $742,934 for the quarter and Consumer Video Eyewear product sales grew 11% to $1,221,392, accounting for over 59% of sales, the first time that Consumer was more than 50% of our sales”, said Paul Travers, President and Chief Executive Officer.

I have been waiting for this release for quite some time as when I tried the set before these I was far from convinced. These do the job wonderfully, the size of screen is excellent and the sound is tremendous! These are also fully set up for 3D and I am eager to see if they do as good a job as they do 2D. Teamed up with an iPhone and either the iPlayer or any DVD or music video they offer a superb portable large screen option.

The only criticism if any is in the design, initially I thought the fact that they do not fit your face like a pair of normal glasses was a drawback but on further usage I can quite easily walk around my house have dinner, make tea ect whilst watching whatever I wish to watch.

I rate this product very nearly as highly as my iPhone and that is I can assure you is quite some endorsement. B E A Utifull!

What are Video Glasses?

Video glasses, also known as head-mounted displays (HMDs), personal media viewers, or simply video eyewear, allow the wearer to experience the illusion of watching a huge movie screen from the distance of a few feet away – yet in a device that is light and portable and fits around the eyes.  Understandably, video glasses have been seen as having huge attraction to commuters, long distance travellers, students away from home, or many others who need to be entertained in a way that does not annoy others.  Video glasses not only enable the wearer to watch movies in privacy but also to play video games.  Video glasses are also the perfect medium for viewing 3D films and playing 3D games – not only because glasses are needed anyway to experience 3D, but also because they enable the user to enjoy the full possibilities of total immersion and virtual reality that 3D can bring.

Despite their obvious attractions, until recently video glasses were not of sufficient quality to break into the consumer market.  This has changed dramatically with the introduction of the Vuzix iWear Wrap range.  So how do these video glasses work?
