The specs come with noise-isolating stereo earbuds and a chunky, wired pocket remote control. You can adjust the way they sit on your face (they’ll even fit over prescription glasses, although it’s a tight squeeze) and independently focus each lens. The many picture adjustments include brightness, contrast, colour and aspect ratio, and Vuzix says the automatic 3-D mode recognises a 3-D video source and displays it three-dimensionally.

So, is it time to flash your credit card for the geek in your life? Perhaps so. The Vuzix specs were fairly easy to set up: within minutes we were watching a clip from the recent Star Trek film, played on an iPhone. The VGA video resolution, split across the two 384 x 240-pixel LCDs, is modest yet perfectly watchable — certainly compared with the 3in screen of most smartphones — and an impressive six hours of play is promised from two AA batteries. (Times.co.uk Review)
